LAUNCH OF SERENGETI SAFARI A SUCCESS AT THE CAPE TOWN BOOK FAIR!

The second book in the Animal Adventures in Africa series - Serengeti Safari- was launched at the Cape Town Book Fair 2009!

Serengeti Safari follows on from the publication of An Elephant’s Tail in September 2008, which has been lauded by the media and wildlife groups. According to Living & Loving (April 2009), “Author Elle Matthews has managed to capture the essence of a truly African tale in a brilliant book based in a game reserve!” The Wild life Action Group said it was “Beautifully presented and wonderfully written.” Educational institutions are also recognizing the value of the Animal Adventures to children’s educational development and Primary News called An Elephant’s Tail “An enchanting story with beautiful illustrations!”

Serengeti Safari is filled with the same fun and adventure, and educational information on environmental and wildlife issues. It is aimed at encouraging children to develop a love for animals and to help protect our planet – all printed on 100% recycled paper!

The series – which encourages children to ‘go green’ from a young age, will comprise a range of other products besides books, including an interactive website, a clothing range and a DVD.

Serengeti Safari tells of Lee O the lion cub, Bongo the baboon, Hevi the hippo calf, Vile the vulture and Manji the little meerkat, who plan to go on a safari to the Serengeti! The book is filled with big adventures, starting with them stowing away in a truck translocating elephants to the Serengeti. When they arrive, they follow the migration, narrowly escape being crushed in a stampede of zebra, and save a little wildebeest from a crocodile. They ride home in a truck transporting an endangered black rhino calf and his bad-tempered mom to their game reserve in the south, and arrive back safely, proud of their big adventure. And very happy to be home!
